10 THINGS GUYS DON'T GET ABOUT FASHION
While guys may profess their love of all things silky, lacey and short, there are a few things in our wardrobes that leave the dudes scratching their heads. What if your fave outfits make their WTF list? We say go ahead and keep wearing ‘em if you like ‘em—this is just a fun peek inside the male mind.
High-waist jeans
I’m not a fan of the high-waist jeans some girls wear—it reminds me too much of my old elementary-school teachers. —Mike, 29
Really high heels
Call me crazy, but if a gal looks like she’s really uncomfortable in the shoes she’s wearing, it makes me uncomfortable—I don’t care how hot the shoes are. I’m not saying you should rock New Balances instead, but if you can’t wear those heels without grimacing every step, maybe save them for seated events. —Alex, 28
Harem pants
I think that the weirdest women’s fashion choice has been those weird dumpy pants that make it look like girls have poops in their pants. I don’t want to talk to anybody wearing those pants. —Peter, 30
Hippie headbands
Hipster girls have started wearing what look like belts on their heads. It’s cute in a pathetic way because it looks like they got confused while they were getting dressed. —Robby, 30
Cool hats
If ladies are wondering whether they should wear that new hat they picked up on a whim at Urban Outfitters—you know, the fedora or the Newsies-style hat or even the trucker hat—the answer is always the same: dear God, no. —Mike, 32
Pantsuits
When a woman wears a men’s-style button-down shirt, it’s super sexy; when she also wears slacks, a tie and a vest or blazer, it’s super manly—and not in the good Diane Keaton in Annie Hall sort of way. —Ian, 26
Bodysuits
There’s nothing less sexy than getting to third base and realizing that your girl is wearing what is essentially a one-piece swimsuit. —Ryan, 27
Embellished bags
One sweeping fashion trend that boggles the male mind is the case of the Gigantica-Godzillaca-Bedazzlement-Titanic-Tote Handbag complete with metal rings, chunky chain handles, leather loops, vertical zippers and who knows what. Girls can pack a guest room in there. Honestly, they look like Andie Walsh from Pretty in Pink stitched them at home after a bottle of chardonnay. —Rick, 30
Furry boots (in summer)
I can’t help but laugh when I see urban women sporting those super-furry Ugg boots. Sweetheart, you’re not competing in the Iditarod or about to plant a flag on Everest. Your run to get a blueberry smoothie and a manicure doesn’t require extreme survival gear. —Dave, 24
Fancy swimwear
What’s with wearing fancy shoes, jewelry and makeup when you’re just hanging out at the pool? —Rob, 33

2010 SPRING ACCESSORIES ARE A CROC
New year, new life? There are always exceptions to the rule, especially if we talk about fashion. One might think that every year the stakes are renewed and designers involved in setting trends with innovative products that have not seen in the market so far. But the truth is that while there is some of that in the world of the catwalk also see these perennial classics that even if they return again and again they are still interesting.
We talk about the ins and classic designs are always in place, products that never go out of fashion, perhaps because its quality, materials that are designed or simply because they set their own style. This applies to the designs of crocodile skin, a trend that we see both in bags and accessories and many shoes.
Despite the history, brands are betting big on the reptile skin and success seem to be guaranteed with high quality products, often priced too high for some budgets.
What can we find this season?
Fendi encourages a "clutch" that combines different textures of crocodile and has a very strong stone while Donna Karan is played by some very distinguished abotinados shoes:

SCAR JO'S MANGO MADNESS
Mango's Spring 2010 ad campaign features Scarlett Johansson in two of our favorite spring trends—the trench dress and floral prints! The actress looks as sexy in Mango’s curve-enhancing khaki wrap as she does sweet in their strapless liberty-print dress. This is Johansson's second season modeling for the label.
Her last campaign received a mixed response, but that hasn't deterred Scarlett Johansson from reprising her role as the face of Mango's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. With her hair a little longer and in a sultry shade of chestnut red, the actress models the Spanish retail's latest feminine floaty designs.
"I love working with Mango," gushed ScarJo in November. "This is the third campaign I have done with them. The photographer, Mario Sorrenti, makes me feel very comfortable: the sessions are great fun. I see Mango as a casual firm, with lots of combinations of garments, fresh and youthful".

JWOWW MTV'S LATEST REALITY GIRL THINKS SHE KNOWS FASHION
God save us all, . . .can MTV's horrific casts please stop making clothes-- we all know how this story ends. Lauren Conrad's line failed, Whitney Port's line isn't doing well, and Audrina Patridge's line isn't doing well either. Can someone please tell me how these girls become fashion designers? Just because you claim to be Italian, doesn't mean you know anything about fashion.
One of the Jersey Shore housemates is moving on up in the fashion industry! MTV’s very own Jenni Farley, aka JWOWW, is launching her own clothing line.
Jenni never wore that much clothing to begin with, but when she did, she made a statement! Remember those sparkly hot pants she wore to the club?!
Jenni announced the news via her website, which states, “Jenni has created the ultimate in fashionable clothing. Not only will her line be ‘Edgy’ and ‘Sexy,’ but it will also make people of all ages and body type feel more confident in ‘the scene.’ “Remember you don’t want to be that person at the club that sees someone else wearing the same thing.”
With her style, we highly doubt anyone would be wearing the same thing! The line will include custom-made tops in six colors. Jenni is also offering an opportunity for fans who want to show off their “Shore” style to appear on the site. All they’ll need to do is take a picture of themselves wearing the top and send it to her e-mail address. Visit jwoww.com for more details!

2010 MEN'S STYLE GUIDE
Admit it: You've got your fair share of oversized, outdated fashion relics gathering dust in the far recesses of your closet. It's time to weed out the old and ring in the new—and this month's Men's Style Guide can help. Our latest installment examines 'The New Standards'—those hard-working essentials that form the backbone of every guy's 21st-century wardrobe. Think your bases are covered? Before assuming you're totally up to date, you'd better measure your ties, check your denim, and take a second look at how your suit fits. We cover all this and more, with in-depth tips on seven style staples for work, weekend and beyond.
While you're there, check out other Men's Style Guide features, too-- that pinpoints your style type and suggests clothes tailored to your taste.
For 2010, resolve to reevaluate your wardrobe. Here are the pieces every new-millennium man needs—plus tips on exactly how they should fit:
DARK KNIGHT.
Ditch your baggy, dated dad jeans. One clean-cut pair in dark blue will take you to work, weekend and beyond. Want to branch out? Try versatile neutrals like black, grey and white. My favorites: Buffalo by David Bitton, Straight Leg Jeans, Dresdon, $220. (Washed and whiskered for the look and feel of an old favorite, these Buffalo Jeans are a must-have look for a modern guy.)
JACK-ET OF ALL TRADES.
One coat can keep you dry 24/7—from morning commute, to night out, to busy weekend. Find one that fuses function with fashion, complementing your look rather than covering it up. My favorite: G-Star Raw Outdoor Copeland Quilted Jacket, $160. (Multidirectional quilting emphasizes the slim fit of a stand-collar jacket with long, smooth sleeves. Embroidered logo details the color-blocked shoulders.)
MODERN MAN.
Your new suit's narrower lapels, shorter jacket and flat-front trousers all work together to make you look taller and slimmer—no matter your shape or size. My favorites: Ralph Lauren Suit, Grey Herringbone, $350. (Expert tailoring and flawless attention to detail makes this well-constructed look from Lauren Ralph Lauren a great addition to your polished wardrobe.)
DRESS SHIRT WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS.
That billowy wad of fabric that balloons out the back of your pants? Put it behind you with shirts that actually fit. Streamlined but not skin-tight, they accentuate the positive on every guy's frame. My favorite: Thomas Pink Slim Fit Dress Shirt, $195. (Pink stripes on a black background distinguish a straight-collar shirt crafted in the tradition of classic British shirt-making. Contoured panels on each side perfect the slim fit.)
NARROW MINDED.
Today's universally accepted neckwear is not too fat, not too skinny, but a happy medium that syncs up nicely with slim suit lapels and smaller shirt collars. My favorite: Burberry Woven Silk Tie, $150. (Oversized check patterns an Italian-crafted tie with a modern, narrow width.)
STRAIGHT FORWARD.
With a new, sleeker fit, cotton khakis are no longer confined to casual Friday. They now look, feel and function more like high-minded jeans you can dress up or down. My favorite: BOSS Black 'Cagan' Flat Front Trouser, $155. (Subtly textured wool trousers cut with a hint of stretch offer a modern aesthetic.)
CASUAL KING.
Show some style initiative—even on the weekend. With a few low-key, fitted shirts on-hand, you'll look effortlessly with-it, whether you're headed to the art museum or the hardware store. My favorite: 7 Diamonds Zip Pocket Plaid Shirt, $99. (A horizontal zipper above one of the snap-flap chest pockets modernizes a spread-collar shirt patterned in classic plaid.)

HOLLYWOOD STRIKES GOLD
Last night 2010's award season kicked off in style as the stars hit the red carpet for the Golden Globes.
All that glitters is gold, and there were quite a few bronze beauties in Beverly Hills to Celebrate the 67th Golden Globes at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The biggest names in Hollywood turned out to watch the ceremony, which was hosted by the UK's very own Ricky Gervais. And while we are of course fascinated by who took home the trophys, we're more focused on who wore what.
The best dressed ladies channeled the new spring trends and opted for colour - Cameron Diaz wore red, Marion Cotillard opted for green, Ginnifer Goodwin wore electric blue and Carey Mulligan wore navy.
And of course there was a stylish array of classic black gowns on offer. Courtney Cox chose fashion's favourite, Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz sported a lace dress by Giorgio Armani Prive and Jennifer Aniston looked incredible in a Valentino dress slit to the thigh.
But it was romance that ruled the night - Chloe Sevigny's beautifully ruffled Valentino gown, Emily Blunt's rose coloured Dolce & Gabbana dress, Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM by Roland Mouret and Diane Kruger in a hot pink Christian Lacroix offering.
And our best dressed winner?
BEST DRESSED
#1. TRUE BLOODY GOOD FASHIONISTA. Anna Paquin sparkles on the red carpet at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 17) in BeverlyHills , Calif. The 27-year-old actress was the talk of the town in a gold Stella McCartney gown with a plunging neckline. Anna accessorized with vintage jewels from Stephen Russell. Anna’s fiance (and True Blood co-star) Stephen Moyer wore a spiffy custom-tailored black tuxedo, dress shirt and shoes all by Burberry.
#2. MRS. AFFLECK. Yes, THE Jennifer Garner sparkled in Versace on the carpet. The intricate cut silver stripes accented her perfectly fit silhouette. Can you believe this beauty had two babies? The 37-year-oldactress looked stunning in a Atelier Versace spiral nude/grey gown, Casadei shoes, Judith Leiber clutch and Bulgari jewels. Kudos to Rachel Zoe, you did good!
#3. PURPLE REIGNS. G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S, is exactly the word that will be used to describe the sensational Fergie Ferg. Lady-like and feminine in lavender Elie Saab, she was exquisite and goddess-like. We know Fergie knows how to show off her body, but we are thankful that she chose glamour tonight!
#4. NINE OUT OF TEN.
The 35-year-old Nine actress wore a Giorgio Armani Privé black lace gown that features a dramatic neckline beaded in a floral pattern, horizontal ribbon striping and fitted sleeves. She accessorized with 69 carats of Chopard diamonds. Penelope, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in Nine, joked on the red carpet, “I’m not like PuffDaddy , I hold my own umbrella.”
#5. UP IN THE AIR OF STYLE.
George Clooney took a break from planning his telethon for Haiti to go the Golden Globes with his stunning girlfriend Elisabetta, wearing Roberto Cavalli. Clooney is nominated for best actor for "Up in the Air" and didn't let the rain stop him for working the stands and signing autographs for fans.
MOST IMPROVED: SEEING STRAIGHT. Sandra Bullock definitely has stepped up her style game an we are soo impressed! Thank you to her stylist and the lovely designers of Bottega Venetta. Her best accessory was her sexy husband Jesse James, holding her umbrella while she posed. Kudos to you, Sandy, we are looking forward to SAG Awards & Oscars!
And with the Fashion Winners, there are the Fashion Losers, . . .Worst Dressed, . . .
BRIDE WARS. The usually fashion-savvy Kate Hudson disappointed in Marchesa. The dress is very buttercream, wedding dress for the red carpet soiree. Someone has bride on the brain! The 30-year-old Nine actress wore a white hot Marchesa strapless silk crepe gown, Casadei’s Signature 3504 triple platform pump, and a bracelet by Stephen Russell Contemporary Collection.
NEIN. Nine star Marion Cotillard walks the red carpet at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 17) in BeverlyHills , Calif. Marion, 34, strutted her stuff in Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo “Drake sandals” and Roger Vivier “Navette” clutch in Black Crocodile. The lace slip showing in the high slit is oh-so-tacky!
PROJECT RUN-AWAY.
Heidi Klum and Seal don’t seem to mind the rainy red carpet. The 36-year-old model, who wore Roberto Cavalli, in a light blue gown that did not fit or flatter her body at all. The combo of Juliet-off-the-shoulders top and the mermaid gown, is AUF-ful!
LITTLE BO, TINA? Tina Fey, Tina Fey, the only thing funny on Sunday night was your hideous ensemble. Zac Posen should've left that in Mary Poppins closet, because it's not a good look on you. The 39-year-old three-time Golden GlobeAwards winner wore a Zac Posen dress, Christian Louboutin heels with bow details and Fred Leighton jewels.
DUH DUN DUH DUN (SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!) The fashion maven Cher forgot this was the Golden Globes and went through the Costume Department and asked for the Morticia Adams special. Shakes head, why does she get more unfashionable with age! She was promoting Burlesque, she should've showed her vintage style, instead of a scary motif!
Anna Paquin sparkles on the red carpet at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 17) in Beverly
#2. MRS. AFFLECK. Yes, THE Jennifer Garner sparkled in Versace on the carpet. The intricate cut silver stripes accented her perfectly fit silhouette. Can you believe this beauty had two babies? The 37-year-old
Penelope, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in Nine, joked on the red carpet, “I’m not like Puff

FASHION REWIND: The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Awards
The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards gala aired live for the third straight year on VH1 on January 15, 2010 at 9:00PM ET/PT.The awards are bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Since its inception in 1995, the Critics' Choice Movie Awards has been a star-studded bellwether event of the awards season and historically, the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.
The BFCA is the largest film critics' organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 200 television, radio and online critics. Emmy and Tony Award winning actress Kristin Chenoweth took the stage at the Hollywood Palladium as the host of the live event.
The action starts with the red carpet, let's be real. Yea, congrats to "Avatar" and "Inglorious Bastards" for their win, but I am here to tell you who was a Fashion Dream and who needs a WAKE UP call from their Fashion Nightmare. Here we go, . . .so many lovely ladies and gents, how will I choose?
1. LOVE DRUNK. The incredibly charming and handsome, Bradley Cooper steals the 1st spot of Best Dressed for me. Not only is the man dapper in his duds, but a dreamboat when it comes to down-to-earth. The classic white dress shirt and black three-piece Prada ensemble looks sensational. Who knew that our dirty-sexy Hangover friend could clean up this well?
2. JUST TO BE BLUNT. Hitting the red carpet, the Best Actress nominee, Emily Blunt gleams in a silver beaded Georges Chakra Couture dress with a scalloped hem and an Irit Design ring. But maybe her best accessory of the night was her dashing fiancé, John Krasinski (not pictured). Emily continues to elevate her fashion standards and let's be real, this devilish fashionista definitely does wear Prada!
3. LOVELY BONES. The Best Young Actress award winner, Saoirse Ronan won for her brilliant role in The Lovely Bones. She wore a multi-colored sequin embellished shift dress with cute gold bootlets. The gracious starlet thanked her parents for their love & support which was very refreshing. Big things on the horizon for Ms. Ronan who is a sure-thing for an award in March. Some say she has a big date with Oscar!
4. LIVE LONG & FASHIONABLE. This should be the motto for Hollywood hottie, Zoe Saldana who lit up the red carpet in a gorgeous white cocktail dress by Jason Wu. The 31-year-old actress’ latest movie Avatar won for Best Action Movie, beating out District 9, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds and Star Trek. She was adorned in ack Vartanian jewels — 18kt white gold turquise and diamond earrings and 18kt white beryl and diamonds rings.
5. BEAM ME UP, HOTTIE. Taking 5 on the list is a tie, between co-stars of Star Trek, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Both men looking handsome and perfectly put together in their phenomenal suits. Quinto showing off the hottest trend in men's suiting for 2010 in the grey suit with a dark dress shirt and fun tie, while Pine opts for the contrasting lapel and suit combo that suits him just fine!
And then there the FASHION NIGHTMARES that even Anna Wintour would agree upon. It's a new year, Hollywood, someone should've asked for a STYLIST for Christmas! Before I get to the fash-tastrophes, I will give a MOST IMPROVED award to the sensational Sandra Bullock. She is trying. Still not in love with this dress, because last award season you made my Best Dressed list, so it can be done! We know you have an edge since you are married to bad-boy Jesse James, but this hodge-podge of a dress is a better silhouette on your cute figure, just a little too chaotic. Even the fashion critics would agree, less is more! Nice try, we have Golden Globes, SAG, and Oscars, we have faith you are going to iron out all your fashion blunders by then!
FASH-TASTROPHES.
WOW. Who do you think was a SHOCKER on the red carpet?
WHY. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. The When in Rome star, Kristen Bell was a presenter at the show and stuck to all black from Prada, from her sleek silk V-neck dress to her peep-toe heels and clutch. A bit boring for Ms. Bell, who usually dazzles on the carpet. A little disappointed that she would go this mellow for this event. We are hoping she kicks it up a few notches for the rest of award season.
WHOA. Who made you say WHOA on the carpet?
WHOOPS. Who made a fashion no-no?
WHAT WAS HE/SHE THINKING? Who needs serious style help?
I want your input. Comment, email me, let me know!
